REVOLVER

Revolver magazine is a magazine that is sold twice a month and is heavily focused on heavy metal music and thrash metal mu8sic. Bands featured are the likes of the big 4 thrash metal bands :slayer Metallica megadeth and anthrax. It also covers a lot of punk sub cultures such as chaos UK.

The magazine is published by newbay media and has a circulation rate of around 150000 on average. Therefore this magazine is fairly successful and keeps most metal fans very happy in what they read because the likes of kerrang and scuzz don’t show or talk about the band they like whereas revolver and another big metal magazine being metal hammer. It was formerly owned by Harris publishers but was bought in 2006 by future US. In a later date in 2011 it was then bought and owned by newbay media and is still owned by them to this day.

NME

Nme is a music magazine that was first published in March 1952. It is normally highly associated with alternative music and mainly rock. It was the first original British. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper. During the period 1972 to 1976, it was particularly associated with gonzo journalism, then became closely associated with punk rock through the writings of Julie Burchill, Paul Morley and Tony Parsons. It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s and 1990s, changing from newsprint in 1998. The sex pistols and the clash were highly involved with nme. Especially Sid vicious’ solo career was highly followed up upon as well as john lydons (formerly Johnny rotten in the pistols) new band public image limited.

 

An online version of NME was launched in 1996. It’s called NME.com. It became the world's biggest music site, with over seven million users per month and still is one of the biggest today. The magazine's paid circulation in the first half of 2014 was 15,830, and has been dropping due to continuing poor sales, the magazine will be given away for free from September 2015. This is not good for the company at all.
